About
I am an amateur photographer, and would like it to remain so.
My interest in photography can be directly linked to the american lunar missions back in the 1960's. My first attempts at photography, as a 17-year old teenager, were at a holiday trip using my fathers old plastic camera (we didn't get mobile telephones with built-in cameras in the 1960's). A month later we could experience Neil Armstrong set foot on the moon.
The astronauts used Hasselblad cameras for most of their missions. A camera, which was outside my budget by a wide margin. But on the early missions they did bring Nikon, and that inspired me to buy my first semi-professional camera, a Nikkormat FTN.
I traded in the Nikkormat for more expensive equipment some years later, but being a nostalgic I hunted down a similar model on ebay last year.
By the way, I never got around to buying a Hasselblad. You get older, the kids leave home, and you get the economy to buy more expensive equipment. But some dreams probably should remain dreams.
